In order to cast the most suitable actors/actresses for our film trailer, we had to carry out character auditions for the 3 roles of the child, the mother and father asking each actor to act out a short scene.
Tom's audition displayed his level of professionalism when it came to acting the scene as he was able to portray the character of a possessed child really well. His appearance makes him seem 'normal' to the audience, however the sinister and mysterious tone to his voice makes him seem like a character we should be afraid of. As the film's antagonist, we want our viewers to be scared of this character and therefore the actor must be able to convey this idea in our trailer, which we think Tom is very capable of. Being the youngest out of the 3 actors also works to his advantage as we ideally wanted the child to be around the age of 12-13, and we found that the slightly older two actors who auditioned looked to old to play the character of 'Tom'. We believe that Tom has great potential as an actor and with the guidance and direction that we will provide him with, he will be the perfect actor to play the role of 'Tom'. Lauren's audition - having starred in many school plays, Lauren's audition proved well in showing off her great acting skills. As the protagonist, the mother needs to appear weak and vulnerable, unaware of her son's possessed nature. The synopsis of the film revolves around the mother trying to discover the reason behind her husband's death and therefore becomes the 'hero character'. In her audition, Lauren was able to portray this well during the short scene of her confiding in her friend about her worries. Not only was she able to learn the script quickly, her confidence was evident in her audition by the way she spoke her lines and acting professionally. Nico's audition - Although the character will only appear briefly in the trailer, the character is very significant to the plot as he is seen being dragged down the stairs. In his audition, Nico showed that he was capable of playing the role as he displayed confidence whilst acting the scene very well. Similar to Lauren, Nico also comes from a acting background which makes him suitable for the role of the 'father' in our film. |
